How We Began

Scott and Melody Gibson formed Falling Leaf Publishing in 1999 to publish their first calendar, Splendor of Oregon. The first 5000 calendars sold out and they had to re-order another 2500 to meet the demand for Scott’s photography. Since then they have gradually expanded until they now publish five titles—Splendor of Oregon (still the best seller), Splendor of Washington, Splendor of California, Splendor of America, and, new for 2007, Oregon Wine Country. The Gibsons now sell upwards of 24,000 calendars per year counting all titles. Melody has taken up her digital camera and now contributes to the smaller grid photos in the calendars.

Each calendar is 12x12 inch with large date boxes, professionally four-color printed, and is shrink wrapped with a cardboard stiffener. The state calendars include a state map indicating the location the photos were taken. Oregon Wine Country includes a state map of Oregon with maps of the various wine appellations in the state.
